Following the very successful exhibition held in Tewin Memorial Hall during the Millennium celebrations of 2000, a committee was set up to publish The History of Tewin in book form. The result is an outstanding local study of a Hertfordshire village.

Lavishly illustrated with 490 pictures in colour and black and white, the book makes a wonderful gift to anyone who lives or has lived in the community. It will also appeal to visitors to the delightful countryside, winding roads and houses which overlook the outstanding chalk stream River Mimram valley. Its publication was made possible by the generous support of over 400 of the local people who paid for their copies in advance as a subscription to the project.

Edited by Patricia Klijn, who was co-author of The Cuffley Story (also available from Tewin Orchard) the book has something for everyone. The families, houses, country estates and natural history are dealt with in carefully researched detail.

There are also the entertaining personal memories of Viscount Gage in his Foreword and Lord Laming of Tewin has written of the authors in his introduction: 'Together they have produced a remarkable publication that does justice to the rich history of this village and its people'.
